Kanchi-Vandavasi Road Expansion Targets Faster Industrial Freight Movement

Kanchi-Vandavasi Road Expansion Targets Faster Industrial Freight Movement

The Kanchipuram-Vandavasi Road is being made wider so vehicles can move more easily.

It will eventually have four lanes instead of two in some sections.

Factories near Cheyyar and Vembakkam currently face delays because of traffic jams.

Workers also have trouble reaching the factories on time, and accidents have been reported.

The first construction phase covers nine kilometres and costs Rs.

78 crore.

A much longer second phase will run toward Tiruvannamalai and requires land from 34 villages.

The project includes bridges, drains, bus areas and road dividers.

The road will connect with the Chennai Peripheral Ring Road and help carry goods toward Chennai port.

A flyover near Sevilimedu is planned for completion in 2028.
