Adithya Ashok: NZ Spinner with Indian Roots

Adithya Ashok: NZ Spinner with Indian Roots

Adithya Ashok is a 23-year-old leg spinner from New Zealand who was born in Vellore, India.

He moved to New Zealand when he was four years old.

Ashok has a special tattoo in Tamil as a tribute to his late grandfather, inspired by a Rajinikanth movie.

He recently trained at the CSK Academy in Chennai, which helped him understand different types of pitches in India.

Ashok is excited to use this knowledge in the upcoming ODI series against India, which starts on January 11 in Baroda.

He looks up to Shane Warne as his role model and has mentors like Ish Sodhi and Tarun Nethula to guide him in his cricket career.

Ashok's parents worked in Auckland, and he visits Vellore every couple of years.

He sees this series as a chance to learn and improve, despite the competitive environment with other spinners like Mitchell Santner and Ajaz Patel.
