India Announces GST Rate Cuts: Cheaper Prices Ahead!
The Indian government is making many things cheaper!
They're simplifying taxes (GST) into just two main rates, plus a higher one for some luxury goods.
Starting September 22, many everyday items like food, soap, and electronics will cost less.
Some items, like milk, paneer and paratha, will have zero tax.
The goal is to make it easier for people to buy things and boost the economy.
This will also cut rates on smaller vehicles, consumer electronics and even cement.
There will be a 40% tax on high-end vehicles and luxury goods.
These changes aim to encourage spending.
GST slabs will be simplified to primarily 5% and 18%.
Many common-use items will see rate cuts, including food, personal care products, and electronics.
A 40% GST rate is proposed for luxury goods like high-end cars and tobacco.
The tax rate has been slashed on several everyday items such as shampoo, talcum powder and soap to 5%.
The changes are intended to boost domestic spending.
