Canada Pauses Home Care Worker Immigration Program
Canada has decided to stop accepting new applications for the Home Care Worker Immigration Pilot program starting in March 2026.
This program helped foreign workers in home care or child care get permanent residency in Canada.
The government says this pause is to manage the number of applications and make immigration more sustainable.
They will still process applications that have already been submitted.
Additionally, Canada has also paused the Start-Up Visa program, which helped entrepreneurs start businesses in Canada.
Some people think this will hurt Canada's economy because entrepreneurs will go to other countries instead.
Canada's Home Care Worker Immigration Pilot program will not accept new applications from March 2026.
Existing applications will continue to be processed.
The pause is to prevent further inventory growth and bring immigration to sustainable levels.
The Start-Up Visa program, which helped entrepreneurs, has also been paused.
Critics believe this will negatively impact Canada's economy by driving entrepreneurs to other countries.
