Engineers' Bail Denied in Fatal Mumbra Train Accident
Five people died in a train accident near Mumbra in June.
The police think two engineers, Vishal Dolas and Samar Yadav, were careless and responsible for the accident.
They were in charge of the train tracks.
The engineers asked a court for permission to avoid being arrested if they were formally charged, which is called anticipatory bail.
However, the court said no and rejected their request.
The railway company's investigation suggested the deaths were caused by overcrowding and a backpack hitting passengers.
But the police are following a different technical report that points to the engineers' possible fault.
Anticipatory bail pleas of two Central Railway engineers, Vishal Dolas and Samar Yadav, have been rejected by the Thane sessions court.
The engineers were booked by the Government Railway Police (GRP) in connection with a fatal train accident near Mumbra on June 9.
The Mumbra accident resulted in the death of five commuters.
The GRP's case against the engineers is based on a technical report from VJTI, suggesting negligence.
