Kerala CM's Mug Sparks Speculation Amid MLA Rape Case
A coffee mug held by Kerala's Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, during a protest went viral.
The mug had the words 'love you to moon and back' written on it.
Many people thought this was a message of support for a woman who accused a lawmaker, Rahul Mamkootathil, of forcing her to have an abortion.
Mamkootathil was arrested for this and other serious crimes.
The woman had written a similar message on her Facebook post.
The lawmaker was kicked out of his party, but other political groups want him to quit his job as a lawmaker too.
Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan's mug with 'love you to moon and back' inscription goes viral.
Mug's message interpreted as support for a rape survivor who accused expelled Congress MLA Rahul Mamkootathil.
MLA Mamkootathil arrested on Sunday for rape, coerced medical termination, and other serious allegations.
Congress expelled Mamkootathil but did not demand his resignation from the legislative assembly.
Opposition parties (CPM-led LDF and BJP) demand Mamkootathil's resignation from the assembly.
