Odisha Offers Free Bus Travel for School Students
The Odisha government has decided to give free bus rides to all school students.
Before this, students got a 50% discount on bus fares.
Now, they won't have to pay anything.
Students just need to show their school ID or wear their uniform to get a free ticket.
The government wants to make sure more students can go to school easily.
They are also changing bus routes to include as many schools as possible.
This decision was made in a meeting led by the Chief Minister in August 2023.
Odisha government introduces free bus travel for school students under the Mukhyamantri Bus Seva (MBS) scheme.
Replaces the previous 50% fare concession for students in both AC and non-AC buses.
Students can get a free ticket by showing a valid student ID card or wearing a school uniform.
Decision made in a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in August 2023.
OSRTC directed to modify software and revise bus routes to include more schools.
