Chennai Port to Levy Parking Charges on Containers
The Chennai Port Authority is starting to charge shipping lines for parking containers at two private terminals.
This new charge is ₹30 per container, plus extra taxes.
This applies to most containers, but not to those being moved to another ship, or those moved to a different location or on rail.
The port says this is being done to make it easier for trucks to move around inside the port.
The new charges apply from October 1.
