Adhikari Questions Banerjee’s 2021 Injury Claim During Bypoll Campaign
Suvendu Adhikari spoke at a campaign event in Nandigram before an October 6 by-election.
He brought up an injury Mamata Banerjee said she suffered during campaigning in 2021.
Adhikari said her claim that she had fractured her leg was false.
He showed a medical report that he said found no fracture.
Banerjee’s government said it would look into the matter after the by-elections.
Adhikari was campaigning for BJP candidate Hasirani Rath.
The by-election is happening because Adhikari won two seats in the 2026 Assembly polls and later gave up Nandigram.
The article also describes campaigning in Rejinagar, where another by-election is taking place.
Suvendu Adhikari questioned whether March 10 should be observed as “West Bengal Falsehood Day” during a Nandigram roadshow.
He accused Mamata Banerjee of falsely claiming she had fractured her leg while campaigning in Nandigram in 2021.
Adhikari displayed a radiodiagnosis report dated March 11, 2021, which he said showed no evidence of a fracture.
Banerjee’s government announced it would initiate an inquiry into the claim after the bypolls.
