ED Conducts Multi-State Raids on ISIS-Linked Module
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) and other security forces conducted raids in multiple states, including Maharashtra, Delhi, Kolkata, and Uttar Pradesh.
They were searching for people involved in terror financing and money laundering linked to the ISIS group.
The raids were based on a case from last year that accused 21 people of trying to recruit and train youth for terrorist activities.
The accused had declared a village in Thane as a special zone and were planning attacks.
They were also involved in illegal wood smuggling to fund their activities.
A key leader, Saquib Abdul Hamid Nachan, who died in June, was previously arrested for these activities.
ED conducted multi-state raids on 40 locations linked to an ISIS module based in Padgha, Thane.
Raids were supported by Maharashtra ATS and central security forces for security.
Case filed under PMLA based on an NIA case from November 2023 involving 21 accused.
Accused declared Padgha as 'Al Sham' and motivated youth to relocate for strengthening their base.
Investigation also uncovered an illegal Khair wood smuggling racket funding extremist activities.
