Maharashtra APMCs Set for Jobs, Trade and Food Hub Growth

Maharashtra APMCs Set for Jobs, Trade and Food Hub Growth

Maharashtra wants agricultural markets to do more than buy and sell crops.

The government wants them to help create jobs and businesses.

About 200 market committees will join a large job fair on September 29, 2026.

The fair will happen at about 1,000 places across the state.

Young people could find work or learn skills in areas such as food processing, packaging, transport and storage.

Minister Jaykumar Rawal said farmers’ children should become entrepreneurs and job creators.

The government also plans a large food hub near Vadhavan Port.

This hub would help prepare Maharashtra’s farm products for buyers in India and other countries.

Officials said market committees should help employers, trainees and young job seekers connect.
