Telangana Congress BLAs working well during electoral rolls revision
When grown-ups want to vote, their names need to be on a big list called the voter list.
In Telangana, a state in India, officials are updating this list right now with a special process called the Special Intensive Revision.
The Congress party has helpers called Booth Level Agents who help people get registered.
Minister Azharuddin said these helpers are doing a good job, but he wants even more people to sign up to vote.
Officials handed forms to every single voter on the list.
So far, they have typed 77 out of every 100 forms into their computers.
People have until August 10 to hand in their forms, and the draft list will come out on August 17.
The final voting list is scheduled to be finished on October 19.
Telangana Minority Welfare Minister Mohammed Azharuddin said Congress Booth Level Agents are working well during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
Azharuddin urged more people to register to vote, saying the SIR process is not easy.
Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudharshan Reddy asked voters to submit enumeration forms with accurate and complete information before the deadline.
Election officials have digitised 77.77 per cent of the 3,38,26,448 enumeration forms distributed to voters.
The Election Commission extended the form-submission deadline to August 10, with final publication of rolls scheduled for October 19.
