Lupin Reassesses GLP-1 Market as It Develops New Treatments

Lupin makes medicines for diabetes and other health conditions.

It says medicines called GLP-1 drugs will still be important for its business.

However, Lupin now thinks the overall market may not become as large as it first expected.

The company is preparing several different treatments instead of relying only on semaglutide.

One possible medicine, bofenglutide, could be taken once every two weeks.

Lupin is also developing an oral version of semaglutide.

It wants to sell semaglutide in countries such as South Africa, Canada and Brazil.

More companies are developing competing drugs and combinations called GLP-1/GIP treatments.

Lupin is also helping patients learn how to use the medicines and stay on treatment.
