AP Government Issues SOPs for Temple Hundi Donations
The Andhra Pradesh government has made new rules for handling donations in temples.
These rules are to make sure that the money and valuable items given by people are safe and accounted for.
The rules say that the donation boxes, called Hundis, should be opened at certain times and in front of cameras.
Only certain people can be present during the counting, and all the money must be taken to the bank on the same day.
The government hopes these rules will stop any theft or mistakes from happening.
Andhra Pradesh government issued SOPs for handling Hundi donations in temples to prevent theft and ensure transparency.
Hundis must be opened under CCTV surveillance, with advance notice to authorities and in the presence of designated officials.
Major temples' Hundis should be opened every 15 days, while others should be opened monthly.
Strict security measures include a double lock system, advance intimation to police and bank authorities, and video recording of the entire process.
