Karnataka BJP Seeks Week-Long Assembly Session on Drought

Karnataka BJP Seeks Week-Long Assembly Session on Drought

Karnataka’s BJP leaders want the state Assembly to meet for a whole week instead of three days.

They say lawmakers need more time to discuss drought and problems faced by farmers.

They also want to discuss a report about protecting the Western Ghats.

BJP leaders say the government called the session only after protests by the opposition.

They argue that important topics may be left out if the session is too short.

R. Ashoka also said the government limited the agenda to drought and the Kasturirangan report.

The government has proposed a three-day special session.

The BJP says it will raise several other public issues during the meeting.
