SEBI Allows Mutual Funds for IA, RA Deposit Compliance
Investment experts, like financial advisors and research analysts, must set aside money to show they are reliable.
Previously, this money had to be in a specific bank.
Now, they can choose to put this money into liquid or overnight mutual funds.
These funds invest in very short-term loans.
The government made this change after hearing from investment experts.
The new rules were announced in August, and everyone must follow them by the end of September.
SEBI allows Investment Advisers (IAs) and Research Analysts (RAs) to use liquid or overnight mutual funds for deposit requirements.
This provides an alternative to maintaining deposits with scheduled banks.
Overnight mutual funds invest in debt instruments maturing in one day.
Amendments to rules were notified on August 6-7, 2025.
IAs and RAs must comply with the new norms by September 30.
