Delhi Department Orders Aadhaar Linking for Student Benefit Payments
Delhi’s Education Department wants every student receiving certain benefits to have an Aadhaar-linked bank account.
The benefits are sent directly to bank accounts.
They include help with uniforms and textbooks, support for some minority students, and a scholarship for meritorious students.
Some payments have failed because student or bank details did not match or were incomplete.
Officials and schools have been told to check the error list on the EduDel portal and fix the details.
Schools must also hold help camps to support students and parents.
District officials will report progress every week.
The goal is to help eligible students get their money without delays.
Delhi’s Directorate of Education directed officials and schools to ensure all student beneficiaries’ bank accounts are Aadhaar-seeded.
The department uses Direct Benefit Transfer through the Public Financial Management System for four schemes in government and government-aided schools.
The schemes cover school uniforms, textbook subsidies for classes 9 to 12, assistance for Economically Backward Minorities, and the Lal Bahadur Shastri Scholarship.
For the 2026-27 academic session, EduDel lists successful payments and students whose transfers encountered errors.
Schools must help families resolve account issues, while district officials submit weekly progress reports on corrections and Aadhaar seeding.
