SEBI Ban Blocks Zee’s Rs 3,143.5-Crore Fund Raise

SEBI Ban Blocks Zee’s Rs 3,143.5-Crore Fund Raise

Zee Entertainment, a big Indian media company, got its shareholders to agree to raise money by selling special shares.

But right after that, the market regulator SEBI said the company and its two main owners could not trade in the market for a while because they used the company’s land in Hyderabad to get loans without permission.

This means Zee can’t sell the new shares for at least two months, and the owners can’t buy them for a year.

Zee says the ban doesn’t stop the money‑raising plan and is looking for legal help.

Lawyers disagree on whether the plan can go ahead right away or if Zee must wait for a court decision.
