Meghalaya Plans Three Polytechnics, Urges Industry-Linked Training
Meghalaya plans to add three polytechnics to its existing four.
Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui announced the plan at a celebration marking 60 years of Shillong Polytechnic.
He said students need training that matches the work employers need.
He encouraged colleges to work with companies and other organizations.
Those partnerships could give students practical experience in areas such as electric vehicles and renewable energy.
He also said schools should keep updating what they teach as technology changes.
Shillong Polytechnic has produced more than 10,000 graduates.
The minister said government support alone may not be enough to meet every need.
