SPML Infra shares edge higher after 87% Q1 profit jump

SPML Infra is an Indian company that builds water and power infrastructure.

In the most recent three months, called the June quarter, the company earned a lot more money than it did last year.

Its profit jumped by 87%, and its total sales, called revenue, went up by 74%.

Because the results were so good, the company's shares, which are tiny pieces of the company, went up by 2.3% in price.

The company has a big pile of future projects worth about ₹5,094 crore, so it expects to stay busy for years.

In the last quarter alone, it won new orders worth ₹1,293 crore.

It is also building a factory in Pune that makes big batteries for storing energy.

Once those batteries start selling, the company will earn money from that business too.

A famous Indian investor named Vijay Kedia owns a small part of the company.

The company says it aims to keep growing by at least 25% over the next couple of years.
