West Bengal CM ends departmental hiring for major posts
The Chief Minister of West Bengal, Suvendu Adhikari, has announced that all major government recruitments will now be conducted through the Public Service Commission (PSC), which is headed by a non-political person.
He believes that departmental recruitments are not fair because of political intervention.
The previous government had appointed political leaders to head recruitment bodies, which led to scandals and the dismissal of many teachers.
The current government has removed these political appointees and plans to implement a 20% increase in dearness allowance (DA) for state government employees.
They also aim to implement the Seventh Pay Commission by the end of the 2025-26 financial year.
