IIT Bombay Develops AI to Predict Mumbai Rainfall
Researchers at IIT Bombay have created a special computer program using machine learning to predict when it will rain in Mumbai.
The program looks at radar data to figure out when and where rain will happen.
It will send out warnings every eight minutes, giving people a heads-up up to 90 minutes before the rain starts.
The information will be available on the website Mumbaiflood.in.
IIT Bombay developed a machine learning-based nowcast forecasting system.
The system analyzes weather radars to predict rainfall.
It will provide warnings with updates every eight minutes.
Forecasts predict rain up to 90 minutes in advance.
The model will be launched next week in Mumbai.
