Tarun Tejpal Challenges Conviction as Goa Seeks Life Sentence

Tarun Tejpal was convicted in a rape case involving a former colleague.

A Goa trial court had acquitted him in 2021.

The Bombay High Court later overturned that decision and sentenced him to 10 years in prison.

Tejpal has now asked the Supreme Court to overturn the conviction and sentence.

The Goa government has also approached the Supreme Court.

However, it wants him to receive a life sentence instead.

The government says the time that has passed should not lead to a lighter punishment.

The case relates to alleged events at a hotel in Goa in 2013.
