AU SFB Launches UPI for NRIs with International Mobile Numbers
AU Small Finance Bank (SFB) has started a new service that lets people who live outside of India but have bank accounts there use UPI, which is like a quick payment system.
This means people in countries like the USA, UK, and Australia can now link their bank accounts to UPI using their regular international phone numbers instead of needing an Indian phone number.
This new feature is possible because the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) gave permission for this type of transaction.
Now, many people living abroad can more easily manage their money in India.
AU Small Finance Bank (SFB) launched UPI services for NRE/NRO account holders.
The service allows transactions with international mobile numbers.
This follows the National Payments Corporation of India’s (NPCI) directive.
NRIs in 12 countries can now link accounts to UPI without an Indian SIM.
The announcement was made on August 20, 2025.
