Punjab Government Claims Road Safety Force Success
The government in Punjab, India, says its Road Safety Force (SSF) is doing a great job.
They started the SSF in January 2024 to make roads safer.
SSF teams are located along major roads and quickly help people after accidents, giving first aid and taking them to the hospital.
The government says that because of the SSF, they have saved many lives, and, importantly, no children have died in accidents on their way to or from school in the areas where the SSF is working.
This is a first for Punjab.
Punjab government claims its Road Safety Force (SSF) has saved over 35,000 lives.
The SSF was launched in January 2024 and is stationed every 30 kilometers across 4,100 km of Punjab's highways.
SSF teams respond to accident alerts within 5-7 minutes.
The government stated that no child died in a road accident while commuting to or from school in SSF-patrolled zones in 2024.
