108-ft Buddha Statue Planned for Vizag
A big group called the All India Old Temple Renovation Trust wants to build a huge 108-foot tall statue of Buddha in a place called Visakhapatnam in India.
They also want to build a big center with many things like a place for people to meditate, a school for young monks, a home for old people, and a place to give free food.
They chose this place because it is near an old Buddhist monument and they want to make it a special place for people to visit and learn about Buddhism.
They will also take care of orphaned children and teach them in a special school.
The center will have a lot of things to do and see, like a museum and a library, to help people learn about Buddhist culture.
The All India Old Temple Renovation Trust plans to build a 108-foot Buddha statue and a Buddhist Cultural Centre in Visakhapatnam.
The centre will include a Buddha Vihara, monastic school, meditation hall, senior citizens’ home, Annadanam complex, orphanage, library, digital production centre, and a museum.
The project aims to enhance Buddhist tourism and preserve the region's Buddhist legacy.
The monastic school will adopt and educate orphaned or destitute children, providing them with an English-medium education and the choice to pursue various careers or higher education in Buddhist studies.
The centre is located near the ancient Thotlakonda Buddhist monument, which is protected by the Archaeological Survey of India.
