17 Lakh Silver Jewellery Items Hallmarked in 3 Months
The Indian government made a special code called HUID mandatory for silver jewellery that is hallmarked.
This code helps make sure the jewellery is pure and not fake.
In just three months, over 17 lakh silver items have been hallmarked with this code.
Most of these items are either 925 or 800 purity grades.
The southern part of India has the most hallmarked items, and the most common type of jewellery is payal or anklets.
People can check if their jewellery is real by using a special app called BIS CARE.
Over 17.35 lakh silver jewellery items hallmarked within three months of HUID mandate.
HUID is a unique 6-digit code laser-marked on each hallmarked silver article.
Purity grades 925 and 800 constitute nearly 90% of all hallmarked items.
Southern region leads in hallmarking volumes, followed by western and eastern regions.
Consumers can verify authenticity using the BIS CARE mobile app, supporting 12 languages.
