Toyota Launches Urban Cruiser Ebella
Toyota has introduced its first electric car in India, called the Urban Cruiser Ebella.
This car is designed for city use and has a battery that can last up to 543 km on a full charge.
Toyota is focusing on making sure people feel confident about buying electric cars by setting up many service centers, training technicians, and offering special programs like Battery-as-a-Service and buyback options.
The BaaS model allows customers to pay a monthly fee for the battery instead of buying it upfront, making the car more affordable.
Toyota is also being careful about predicting sales because of uncertainties in the market and policies.
The car is made in India to keep costs down and will also be sold in Europe and the UK.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor has launched the Urban Cruiser Ebella, its first BEV for India, with bookings now open.
The vehicle features a 61 kWh battery with a certified range of 543 km for the higher variant, targeting urban users.
Toyota is prioritizing ecosystem readiness by enabling 500+ EV-capable workshops, training 2,500+ technicians, and expanding roadside assistance.
Charging partnerships have been signed with Charge Point and Jio-BP, with chargers planned across all Toyota dealerships.
Toyota has introduced Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) and an assured buyback program to address ownership and resale concerns, with an upfront cost of Rs 10-12 lakh for the BaaS model.
