Purple Roses Campaign in Darjeeling Against Human Trafficking
In Darjeeling, a group called MARG gave out purple roses to help stop human trafficking.
This happened on a special day to remember those who are trafficked.
They chose purple roses because, like the victims, they are made for other people's pleasure.
Volunteers made the roses by hand and gave them to important people and regular folks.
The idea of using purple roses started a long time ago to bring attention to the problem.
MARG has been working to stop trafficking and has helped rescue a lot of people who were in danger.
MARG, a Darjeeling-based organization, distributed purple roses to raise awareness against human trafficking on World Day Against Trafficking in Persons.
The purple roses, handcrafted by volunteers, were distributed to government officials and the public.
The campaign's use of purple roses symbolizes victims of trafficking being reduced to objects.
The concept of the purple rose as a symbol originated in 1989.
MARG has established anti-trafficking clubs and has rescued over 800 victims since 2010.
