India-UK Trade Deal to Cut Prices on Scotch Whisky
Imagine you love Scotch whisky, and it's usually expensive because of taxes.
India and the UK made a deal called a Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
This means India will lower the taxes (import duties) on Scotch whisky from the UK.
Right now, the tax is super high, but it will go down slowly over 10 years.
Because of this deal, the price of some Scotch whiskies, like Johnnie Walker, will get cheaper.
This will make it easier for people in India to buy their favorite drinks.
India is a big fan of Scotch, buying more than anyone else!
India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA) will lower import duties on Scotch whisky.
Duty reduction is from 150% to 75% initially, eventually down to 40%.
Prices of premium Scotch brands like Johnnie Walker Black Label may fall by Rs 200-300.
India is the world's largest Scotch whisky market by volume.
The FTA will make premium spirits more accessible and affordable.
