Five other people have already been arrested for the murder.
The official had earlier gotten a special kind of bail, but the high court cancelled it, leading to the arrest warrant.
A Bidhannagar court issued an arrest warrant for Prasanta Barman, the BDO of Rajganj, for not surrendering within the 72-hour deadline set by the Calcutta High Court.
Barman is accused in the murder case of jeweller Swapan Kamilla, whose body was found in New Town on October 29.
