Bhatti Urges Power Preparedness for El Niño
The Deputy Chief Minister of Hyderabad, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, had a meeting with energy officials to talk about getting ready for a possible drought caused by El Niño.
El Niño can make it rain less, which means people might need more electricity for water and farming.
Bhatti told the officials to make plans to keep the power running smoothly.
He also asked them to use new technology like artificial intelligence to monitor power distribution and to set up solar lights in childcare centers.
They talked about getting more coal to make sure there's enough fuel for power plants.
Bhatti said the previous government didn't do enough to expand coal production, but the current government is working on it.
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka directed energy officials to prepare contingency plans for El Niño-induced drought and increased electricity demand.
Power availability was emphasized as crucial for drinking water and agricultural needs during potential rainfall shortages.
Officials were instructed to accelerate distribution transformer mapping, deploy AI for monitoring, and expand the 'Power Ambulance' emergency response system.
Bhatti complimented TGSPDCL's GPS-enabled fleet and Erragadda command-control center, directing statewide scaling up of these initiatives.
Solar lighting for anganwadi centers and modernization of substations were proposed, along with setting up substations under flyovers in IT corridors.
