G-sec yield rises to 10-month high
The price of Indian government bonds went up on Tuesday, making the interest they pay (called yield) reach 6.72%, the highest in 10 months.
This happened because people are being careful before the budget is announced and there's not much demand for these bonds.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) tried to help by saying they would buy some bonds and add money to the system, but it didn't stop the yields from going up.
Some experts think the yields might go down a bit tomorrow because the RBI moved up their bond-buying plans.
But others are worried because other signs in the market suggest that interest rates might go up, which would make bonds less attractive.
The market is also feeling the effects of higher prices for things like oil and other countries' bonds getting weaker.
Yield on 10-year benchmark government bond rose to 6.72%, the highest in 10 months.
Yield increased by 6 basis points from the previous close of 6.66%.
RBI announced liquidity measures worth Rs 1.25 lakh crore, including bond purchases and repo operations.
Market sentiment remains subdued due to budget uncertainty and OIS curve pressures signaling rate hikes.
Experts anticipate the yield to potentially reach 6.90% if it breaks the 6.75% level.
