IIT Bombay & CME Pune Develop Missile-Resistant Modular Bunkers
Imagine building super strong shelters for soldiers that can protect them from bombs and missiles.
Researchers from IIT Bombay and CME Pune made these shelters using special concrete blocks that fit together easily, like giant LEGOs.
These blocks are designed to withstand powerful explosions.
They also have curved roofs that deflect blasts away from the inside.
The shelters have been tested and have shown great protection, even against direct hits.
This new design helps keep soldiers safe in dangerous situations and can be quickly built in the field.
IIT Bombay and CME Pune collaborated to develop lightweight modular bunkers.
The bunkers are designed to withstand artillery fire, missile impacts, and aerial strikes.
Built from prefabricated concrete, they can be assembled without special tools.
Curved roof panels offer increased blast resistance compared to flat slabs.
Field trials showed significant improvement in protection against ballistic and high-explosive threats.
