RBI Holds Rates as Hawkish Signals Shape Market Expectations

RBI Holds Rates as Hawkish Signals Shape Market Expectations

The RBI decided not to change interest rates.

All six policy members agreed to keep rates where they are.

However, several members used words suggesting rates could rise later if needed.

SBI Research said these comments are warnings, not proof that a rate hike is coming soon.

It also said the RBI’s actual actions may reveal more than its public statements.

Inflation in July was 4.45%, which was in line with expectations.

Better rainfall and near-normal crop planting may support the economy.

SBI Research therefore expects the RBI to keep policy on hold for a long time, even though its language is becoming more cautious.
