Uttarakhand Adopts UP’s ‘One Jail One Product’ Model
Uttarakhand is copying a program from Uttar Pradesh called ‘One Jail One Product’.
This program helps prisoners learn new skills by making special products in jail.
The leader of Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, wants all jails in the state to have this program.
Prisoners will be trained in different jobs with help from special schools called ITIs.
The products made in jail will be used in government offices and sold in the market.
The program also includes setting up laundry machines, a mustard oil plant, mushroom farming, and bakery units in different jails.
This program was started in Uttar Pradesh in 2022 and has been very successful.
Uttarakhand adopts Uttar Pradesh’s ‘One Jail One Product’ model to reform inmates and build vocational skills.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami directs prisons to train inmates in suitable trades with ITI support.
Goods manufactured in jails will be used in government offices and surplus products will be sold in the market.
