LPU Students' AI Innovation for Food Waste Reduction Wins Global Recognition
Two students from Lovely Professional University (LPU) went to Malaysia to show off their smart tag invention.
These tags use AI to keep fruits and veggies fresh longer, which can help stop a lot of food from going bad.
The students got to meet other smart people from around the world who are also trying to make the future better for food and the environment.
LPU is proud of their students for coming up with this great idea.
LPU students Megha Thakur and Nishikant Yadav represented India at Global Future Forum 2025 in Malaysia
They presented research on using Smart AI Tags to extend shelf-life of horticultural produce
The AI-driven innovation aims to combat global food waste, with 25-40% of produce currently lost post-harvest
The forum brought together leading researchers, innovators, and policymakers to discuss sustainable food systems
LPU Pro-Chancellor Col. Dr. Rashmi Mittal praised the students' work, reflecting the university's commitment to sustainability and social good
