IPS Officer Challenges UPSC Over DGP Panel Exclusion
A senior police officer named Rajesh Kumar is upset because he was not considered for an important job as the top police officer in West Bengal.
He thinks this is unfair because he has the right experience and time left in his job.
He has asked a special court to help him get justice.
He says that he and two other officers were removed from the list even though they had enough time left in their jobs.
The court that decides who gets the job said they didn't have enough time left, but Rajesh Kumar disagrees and thinks this is not fair.
He has won awards for his work and wants the court to look into this matter quickly.
Senior IPS officer Rajesh Kumar moved the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) over his exclusion from the DGP panel for West Bengal.
Kumar claims he and two other senior officers were illegally removed despite meeting the mandatory service requirement.
The UPSC excluded the three senior-most officers because they no longer had the required residual service as of the meeting date.
Kumar termed the decision discriminatory and unreasonable, contradicting established norms.
He is currently posted as the principal secretary of the library and mass education Department with about three months of service left.
