IEX Shares Drop 7% Amid Regulatory Uncertainty
The Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) saw its stock price drop by nearly 7% on January 9, 2026.
This happened because the company sought clarification about the launch of gas futures, and there was a delay in the hearing about market coupling norms.
The stock first went up but then dropped more than 11% from its highest point during the day.
The next hearing about market coupling is scheduled for January 19, 2026.
IEX also clarified that it is not involved in the talks about launching gas futures, as those are being handled by another company called IGX, which is only an associate of IEX.
The stock has seen a 52-week high of ₹215.40 and a low of ₹130.35.
IEX share price dropped nearly 7% to ₹139.80 on January 9, 2026.
The stock fluctuated between ₹139.80 and ₹159.80 during the trading session.
IEX sought clarification on the launch of gas futures by IGX, dismissing reports of its involvement.
APTEL scheduled the next hearing on market coupling norms for January 19, 2026.
CERC clarified that the July 2025 issuance on market coupling should be regarded as a 'direction' rather than an 'order'.
