Courts in Gujarat and Thane Sentence Men for Sexual Crimes Against Minors
Two men in India were punished by courts for very bad crimes against young girls.
One man in Gujarat was given the death penalty for kidnapping, sexually assaulting, and killing a 6.5-year-old girl.
The court said this because they had strong proof like bite marks and videos.
The other man in Thane was sentenced to 20 years in jail for sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl, which made her pregnant.
The court said his actions were very bad and he should not get any mercy.
Both men's lawyers might try to challenge these punishments in higher courts.
A special POCSO court in Vapi, Gujarat, sentenced Razak Khan Subhan Khan to death for kidnapping, raping, and murdering a 6.5-year-old girl in 2023.
The court ordered ₹17 lakh in compensation for the victim's family and cited strong evidence including bite marks, CCTV footage, and witness accounts.
A Thane court sentenced Sahid Mohammad Ramzan Hasmi to 20 years' rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in 2021, which led to her pregnancy.
The Thane court convicted the accused under the POCSO Act section 5 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault) and imposed a fine of ₹50,000 on him.
Both courts emphasized the heinous nature of the crimes and the need for stringent punishment, rejecting the defendants' claims and finding strong evidence against them.
