Midnight police visit escalates Jharkhand's JPSC protest

Midnight police visit escalates Jharkhand's JPSC protest

Late at night, some very important police officers and government workers went to a big stadium in a city called Ranchi, in the Indian state of Jharkhand.

Students were staying at the stadium to protest about tests they believe were not fair.

Different people tell different stories about why the police came.

The police say they just wanted to check who was there and make sure the students were okay.

The students and leaders from a political party called the BJP say the officers were trying to scare them and make them leave.

The government says it did not want to force the students out, and it even offered to cancel the examinations.

The students say they want an investigation into the exams by a special agency called the CBI.

Two students were on a hunger strike, which means they were not eating, and officials asked them to take care of their health.

More than 14 police officers were hurt during the protest.

Everyone says they still want to talk, but they do not agree about what really happened.
