Delhi Crime Branch Officer Among 3 Booked in Graft Case by Gujarat ACB
Imagine a police officer from Delhi who works on serious crimes.
This officer, along with two other men, is accused of asking for a lot of money, Rs 80 lakh, which is like $1 million dollars.
They allegedly did this to help someone who was under investigation.
First, they took a smaller amount, Rs 10 lakh, as a down payment.
The person who reported this was a visa consultant whose office was searched, and many important documents were taken.
The police officer allegedly first asked for even more money, Rs 1 crore, to clear the consultant's name and give back the papers.
When this didn't happen, the amount was lowered to Rs 80 lakh.
However, the consultant went to another police team in Gujarat, the ACB, who set up a trap.
The ACB caught one of the men receiving the Rs 10 lakh payment.
The investigation is ongoing.
Gujarat ACB booked Delhi Crime Branch ASI Shivkumar and two others for allegedly demanding Rs 80 lakh in a bribery case.
The accused allegedly accepted an advance payment of Rs 10 lakh to remove a complainant's name from a chargesheet and return seized documents.
The complainant, a visa consultant, was initially searched, and documents including 17 passports were seized by the Delhi Crime Branch.
ASI Shivkumar allegedly initially demanded Rs 1 crore, which was later reduced to Rs 80 lakh.
The ACB successfully set a trap and recovered the Rs 10 lakh advance payment from one of the accused in Ahmedabad.
