Opposition Demands CEC Removal as SIR Dispute Emerges

Some people inside India's Election Commission reportedly disagree about decisions linked to a voter-list review called the Special Intensive Revision.

Opposition parties in Maharashtra say this could harm democracy.

Supriya Sule, a leader of the NCP (SP), said the matter was very serious.

She asked that Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar be removed.

She also called for all political parties to meet quickly.

Sule said citizens may not know whom to trust if the election system is breaking down.

She said the issue affects the constitutional rights of ordinary people.

The article also says she separated this concern from earlier political disputes involving Uddhav Thackeray.
