CCPA Fines Vision IAS ₹11 Lakh for Misleading UPSC Ads
The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has fined a coaching institute called Vision IAS ₹11 lakh.
This is because they put out ads that were not truthful about their students' success in the UPSC Civil Services Exam.
The ads made it seem like all the top students had taken their expensive courses, but actually, only a few had.
The CCPA said this is the first time they have penalized an institute for doing the same thing twice.
They want coaching institutes to be honest in their ads so that students and parents can make good decisions.
The CCPA fined Vision IAS ₹11 lakh for misleading advertisements about UPSC Civil Services Examination results.
The institute claimed 119+ successful candidates but only 3 had enrolled in their foundation courses.
This is the first case of a penalty for a repeat offense under consumer protection laws.
The CCPA emphasized the importance of truthful and transparent disclosure in advertisements.
The Authority has issued 57 notices and imposed penalties totaling ₹1.09 crore on various coaching institutes.
