Bihar faces internal opposition to education restructuring
The Bihar government wants to change how colleges work.
Right now, colleges that offer bachelor's degrees are connected to big universities.
The government wants to change this so that these colleges are directly controlled by the state, not the universities.
Some politicians from the ruling party don't like this idea and have written to the Chief Minister to say so.
They think the change might not be good.
The government plans to introduce this change as a new law soon.
Bihar government plans to restructure higher education by bringing undergraduate colleges under state control.
Proposed bill aims to decouple 500 constituent colleges from their parent state universities.
NDA legislators, including BJP and JDU members, have expressed reservations about the move.
Current control lies with the state Governor, who is also the Chancellor of state universities.
Proposed change would transfer control to a newly created higher education department.
