Governor Grants Prosecution Permission for Ex-Minister in JJM Scam
The Governor of Rajasthan has given permission to prosecute a former minister named Mahesh Joshi.
He is accused of being involved in a big scam related to water supply projects.
The scam happened during the previous government's time and involved a lot of money.
The Enforcement Directorate, which is like a financial crime investigator, has been looking into this.
They arrested Mr. Joshi and some other people, but they were later released on bail.
The Governor used his special powers to allow the prosecution because there is evidence that Mr. Joshi might have done something wrong.
Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Kishanrao Bagade granted permission for the prosecution of former PHED Minister Mahesh Joshi in the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) scam.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) 2002 against Joshi.
The scam involves alleged irregularities of over Rs 2000 crore in water supply schemes during the previous Congress regime (2018-2023).
Joshi was arrested on April 24, 2025, and later released on bail after 20 months in custody.
Several high officials of PHED, contractors, and supplier representatives were also questioned and arrested, but later released on bail by the Supreme Court.
