CJP Leaders Detained Ahead of Delhi Protest, Later Released

The Cockroach Janta Party planned a protest in Delhi about how voter lists were being changed.

It wanted Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar to resign.

Police stopped three party leaders when their plane from Mumbai landed on Saturday.

Police said the protest had not been permitted and held the leaders to help prevent trouble.

The party said the arrests were planned to keep its leaders away from the protest and asked police to share where they were.

The leaders were brought before a magistrate on Sunday and then released.

The party said its protests would continue.

Police also stopped people from gathering at Jantar Mantar, and many protesters were detained and later released.
