Pregnant Woman Survives Ischemic Stroke After Emergency Thrombectomy

A woman who was nine months pregnant suddenly had a stroke.

A stroke happens when blood cannot reach part of the brain.

She had weakness on one side and could not speak.

Doctors found a large blood clot blocking important brain vessels.

They used a procedure called a mechanical thrombectomy to remove the clot.

They took special care to protect the unborn baby from radiation.

After the woman became stable, doctors performed a Caesarean section.

She delivered a healthy baby, and blood flow to her brain was fully restored.
