Sangrur Suicide Attempt Sparks Row Over Drug Supply

Jagga Singh from Namol village allegedly tried to take his own life after talking about drugs being sold in his area.

He said a village leader threatened him and that police did not help.

Police said they registered a case and took him to hospital.

They also said Singh has faced nine criminal cases.

Village panchayat members denied his accusations and said he was politically encouraged to make them.

Opposition parties said the incident showed that the government had not stopped drugs in Punjab.

The AAP government said the opposition was making politics without knowing all the facts.

Singh was reported to be stable and under medical observation.
