Supreme Court Allows Film Release After Rath Yatra

Supreme Court Allows Film Release After Rath Yatra

The Supreme Court of India has allowed the release of an animated film called 'Mahaprabhu Jagannath' on or after July 28, 2026.

This decision comes after the Rath Yatra, a significant religious event, ends on July 27.

Earlier, the Orissa High Court had temporarily banned the film's release because some devotees were upset, saying the film did not correctly show certain historical facts about Lord Jagannath.

The film's producers argued that they had already spent a lot of money and the film had been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification.

The Supreme Court decided to allow the release after the Rath Yatra to respect the ongoing religious rituals.
